DHH is a dynamic non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing quality of life through the provision of non-medical support for those affected by or caring for an individual with a life-threatening illness, as well as bereavement support. It is our vision that volunteer hospice care will be accessible to all individuals in our community. We strive to create sustainable programs and services through innovative fund development and volunteerism.

We are a not-for-profit registered charitable agency since 1982, led by a volunteer Board of Directors. Blue Door Shelters operates three emergency shelters: Leeder Place Family Shelter, Porter Place Men’s Shelter and Kevin’s Place Youth Shelter.

Uxbridge – Uxbridge/Scugog Animal Shelter

The Uxbridge/Scugog Animal Control Centre has been pairing local families with dogs and cats available for adoption for generations. Operating out of a location on Reach St., the Shelter is responsible for animal control across Uxbridge and Scugog Townships. With a dedicated team of full-time, part-time and volunteer staff, the Shelter provides care for dozens of injured stray cats and dogs until they can be reunited with their owners or placed for adoption. Donations of money, pet food and supplies are greatly appreciated by the Shelter as they fulfill their mandate of providing local animals with the highest levels of care and comfort.
