But as I write this blog, next week’s weather looks promising. Which means we’ll soon be outdoors cleaning up the winter debris – and trading the grays and browns for bright colours around the house and yard.

We Offer a Wide Selection of Popular Plants

Vince’s plant expert Debbie adds that with the rise in temperatures and the thawing of soil, there will be a strong urge to get planting. “And that brings more people to our stores.”

“We’ll start to carry more annual bedding plants, vegetable plants, hanging baskets and planters – these will be outside our stores for the rest of the season.”

Popular bedding plants like geraniums, petunias, pansies, and begonias will quickly bring life to your gardens. And potted plants will instantly dress up a porch or deck.

Don’t Forget About Growing Your Own Vegetables!

There’s nothing better than homegrown veggies, picked at the peak of ripeness and placed straight into salads and stir fries.

“Tomato and pepper plants are our top sellers,” said Debbie. “And we can offer these in smaller and larger containers.” But, don’t be too hasty in planting them, as the cold nights we’re still experiencing may mean you’ll be planting more again after Victoria Day.

Keeping It Fresh with Fresh Herbs

Fresh herbs are also popular with both foodies and nutritionists.  These not only add enticing aromas and flavours to food, but offer significant health benefits that include vitamins, minerals, and potent antioxidants.

“We carry a full selection of herbs, including basil, thyme, rosemary and chives, along with so many more.”

Debbie explains that one of the keys to healthy, robust plants, is that Vince’s buys from local greenhouses. “We work with local growers, who deliver our plants fresh, directly to our stores. They don’t spend days in the back of a tractor trailer.”

So, as you swap your snow shovel for the garden spade, drop by one of our stores for a few plantings. We’ll help you transform that muddy mess into a beautiful backyard – or front yard – oasis.
