Hey amigos, Cinco de Mayo is just around the corner, and it’s time to get the party started! This celebration is all about honouring Mexico’s victory over the French in the Battle of Puebla back in 1862. And what better way to celebrate than with delicious food, colourful decorations, and lively tunes?
Although we’re not really in the music or party decoration business, we can help with some great food suggestions for your event – even if it’s just for you and the kids.
Let’s start with these options:
- Our Vince’s Own 7 Layer Dip is filled with sour cream, salsa, refried beans, guacamole, cheddar cheese, and cilantro. It is perfect for dipping nearly anything that can be dipped, and is available in our prepared foods department. With plenty of tastes and textures, it will certainly be a crowd pleaser.
- Mad Mexican artisan nachos are stoneground crispy corn chips, sized to create the perfect dipping experience. They remind me of the kind you get in your favourite Mexican restaurant. In addition to a simple ingredients list, these handcrafted chips are non-GMO, gluten free, and preservative free. And they make a perfect pairing with our 7-layer dip, or with Mad Mexican’s own guacamole.
- Mad Mexican Guacamole: Whether you serve it as a simple dip, loaded on your tacos, or even layered on sandwiches or burgers, we can all agree that this blend of avocado, tomatillos, onions, lime juice, jalapeño pepper, coriander, salt, and pepper is both healthy and delicious. Mad Mexican’s is made with premium avocados from the region of Michoacán, which are ripened to perfection to give their famous guac its full flavour. Available in mild and hot.
- Old El Paso Taco Kits: Old El Paso is a well-known brand that has been bringing Mexican flavour to our kitchens worldwide for more than 80 years. Their taco kits make it easy to create delicious tacos at home, and include everything you need, including seasoning mix, taco shells, and salsa.
- Questo Fundido is an easy-to-make dip that includes chopped chorizo, jalapeño seeds, shredded Monterey Jack and cheddar cheeses, and fresh chopped cilantro for garnish. Great, of course with your tortilla chips. There are plenty of recipes (and variations) online. Or you can give this one a try!
- Jarritos Mexican Pops: Here is a tasty way to stay refreshed during your Cinco de Mayo celebration. Jarritos pops come in a variety of flavors, including lime, mango, tamarind, and strawberry. They’re made with real fruit and have no artificial colors or flavours. And they’re a great accompaniment to all of the above!
