It’s National Popcorn Day At Vince’s Market

Two bowls of caramel popcorn and a stack of caramel.

Today is National Popcorn Day! Popcorn is the perfect snack, whether you are watching a movie, sports, or just looking for a salty treat, it always hits the spot. There are many ways to make your own popcorn at home such as on the stove in a saucepan, microwave, or in your cast iron pan.

On the stove is easier than you think. All you need are 2 tablespoons of olive oil or avocado oil, and ½ a cup of kernels. Let the oil heat up at medium high and put 2 kernels in to test when the oil is at the perfect popping point. Once those kernels pop, add the ½ cup to the pot and shake it so none of the kernels burn. Tilt the lid so it is slightly open to release the steam and avoid the popcorn from getting soggy. Once your popcorn is finished popping, feel free to add butter, salt, pepper, or any of your favourite seasonings. I personally love a little truffle oil on mine or ranch seasoning!

For the microwave version, all you need is a microwave safe bowl and dinner plate. Same idea as stovetop, but microwave on high for about 2 minutes.

Your cast iron pan can also be used to make popcorn, while helping season the pan. Put the same amount of oil in the pan and heat it up, test the kernels, and continue to add the rest. Follow the steps for the stovetop and voila! Popcorn is served.

Lastly, and my personal favourite, Vince’s Own Popcorn! We make our popcorn fresh at the Vince’s Commissary, located in our Uxbridge store. We currently have the following flavours:

  • Movie style
  • Caramel
  • Chocolate Caramel Mix
  • Chicago Mix – Orange Cheese and Caramel
  • Orange Cheese
  • White Cheese
  • Dill Pickle
  • Salt and Vinegar
  • Garlic Parmesan

You can’t go wrong with any of these flavours – and they satisfy your sweet or salty craving.

Next time you are in one of our locations, be sure to check them out and grab a bag!
