Representatives from Vince’s, the Canadian Mental Health Association, York Region and South Simcoe (CMHA-YRSS), and from CHATS (Community & Home Assistance to Seniors) assembled for a presentation at the Vince’s Sharon store. Here, proceeds from the 2022 Community Product Initiative were released after a successful year-long campaign, and the independent grocer was pleased to announce that $30,202.53 was raised to support one of CMHA’s life-changing youth programs.

“We are very grateful to Vince’s Market and their Community Product Initiative for this incredible donation that will support youth mental health in our community through MOBYSS – Mobile York South Simcoe – Ontario’s first and only mobile (and now also virtual) mental health clinic for youth 12-25 years old,” said Catherine Matzig, Senior Director, Philanthropy, CMHA YRSS. “On behalf of the thousands of young people who will access this service every year, thank you to the Vince’s Market team for their fierce and ongoing commitment to the mental health of our entire community.”

“Vince’s really does care about our community, and you prove it every day,” she added.

MOBYSS provides holistic youth-centred mental health services that include counselling, support, and referrals. Their youth mental health workers and peer support specialists are experienced in dealing with issues such as depression, anxiety, substance abuse, suicide, and many more, as well as those unique to LGBTQ youth. During the pandemic, virtual services were added, offering counselling and medical support online through zoom or through phone calls.

“Our Community Product Initiative had its best year ever, and I am proud that Vince’s was able to provide a significant donation to help ensure these valuable services are available,” said Giancarlo Trimarchi, President Vince’s Market. “Even before the pandemic, youth have been experiencing a disproportionate rate of mental health crises, and it’s good to know the CMHA-YRSS is there to answer that call.”

Vince’s is also pleased to announce the 2023 recipient of our Community Product Initiative: CHATS – Community & Home Assistance to Seniors. Vince’s takes very seriously the challenges faced by our
older residents, and CHATS, a not-for-profit organization, is committed to advocating for and delivering high- quality, person-centred home and community services to older adults and caregivers living in York Region and South Simcoe.

“CHATS is thrilled to have been selected as the Vince’s Market Community Product Initiative recipient for 2023,” said CHATS CEO Christina Bisanz. “The pandemic has heightened and escalated social isolation, and challenges with food and housing security for our regions’ most vulnerable seniors and their family caregivers. Organizations like CHATS have been stretched with increased demands for services and supports, both directly and from our partners in health and social care. When hospitals and long-term care institutions needed to keep seniors in their homes, we found ways to continue to support them in their communities, keeping them engaged and keeping then safe. We are grateful that Vince’s has recognized the importance of investing and contributing to CHATS, and recognizing that people want to stay in their own homes and communities. The funding we receive from this program will ensure that no senior gets left behind.”

“Vince’s is excited to partner with the CHATS organization this year,” added Maria Ciarlandini, Vince’s Community Ambassador. “As we roll into our sixth year of the initiative, we welcome CHATS and look forward to bringing awareness of their programs and events that support seniors in our communities.”
