Vince’s president honoured as Business Leader of the Year

At the 34th Newmarket Business Excellence Awards (BEAs), an annual tradition that pays homage to leadership, vision, and entrepreneurial spirit, Giancarlo Trimarchi of Vince’s Market was honoured as Business Leader of the Year – exemplifying stellar leadership, organizational growth, and company culture.

Despite a lifelong involvement in Vince’s under the mentorship of his father and founder, Carmen Trimarchi, Giancarlo navigated a personal leadership pathway. A critical juncture arose when he was grappling with defining his role and style within the organization post-university.

Reflecting on a pivotal conversation with his father, Giancarlo shared, “Am I going to follow after my dad and adopt his leadership style? My dad pulled me aside one Christmas and said, ‘you don’t have to do this right now. You know, it’ll always be here for you, but go out and do something that you can bring back. Find your own path’.” This advice led to Giancarlo carving out a unique leadership style, “I learned the importance of staying humble, and connecting with our team – making sure they feel a part of the organization. And, of course, reflecting how our organization is going to grow. We’ve come a long way, but there’s still a long way to go.”

The Business Leader of the Year award recognizes an individual – employee, senior leader, owner, or entrepreneur – who has showcased leadership across several areas, notably contributing to company growth, culture enhancement, market development, sales & marketing, community service, and corporate values. Giancarlo has demonstrated these attributes through his distinctive leadership style, the organization’s success and it’s standing as a community leader.

The BEAs unite the Newmarket business community in a vibrant, yearly celebration. An event marked by a robust process starting each spring, the awards entail a call for nominations, and culminate in a rigorous judging process, where BEA judges discern winners from a finalist shortlist.
