To say that 2020 has been a challenging year would be an understatement. Pandemic aside, Vince’s has always been committed to making a positive difference in the community. And although our Community Product Initiative has wrapped up two successful years – raising $40,000 to benefit eight life-changing organizations – we still asked ourselves: “How can we make this program even better?”
The answer was to focus on a single, regional recipient to make an even greater impact on the communities we serve. That organization was the Women’s Centre of York Region (WCYR).
So far this year, we have raised $11,278.90 for WCYR. We are encouraged by this number, and appreciate the collaborative efforts of staff, customers, the management team – and our vendors.
The latter, in particular, doesn’t always get a mention. So we’d like to recognize the vendor who is now supporting us with products like Armstrong Natural Cheese Slices – our current Community Product.
Saputo Inc. is no stranger to community outreach, giving back 1% of pre-tax profits across communities where it operates, through financial contributions, product donations and employee volunteering initiatives. In 2019-2020, they provided an overall community investment of more than $11 million worldwide.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Saputo has been doing their part by promoting the safety and well-being of employees and patron farmers, while offering continued support to the communities they serve. In Canada, Saputo has donated an additional $1.9 million in food (and growing) to local agencies, helping support Canadian families who struggle with food security during this difficult time.
Their Community Product has been popular with Vince’s customers, and 15 percent of sales of Armstrong Natural Cheese Slices has been accruing for WCYR. We hope that from now until October 15 (after which, we’ll have a new Community Product), people will continue to purchase these natural, preservative-free* cheeses that come in seven flavours – in convenient resealable packs.
It all adds up to supporting an organization that since 1977, has been offering unique programs and services to women who have the need and desire to make positive changes in their lives.
“Vince’s has chosen the Women’s Centre because of its immense impact in empowering women across the region,” adds Maria Ciarlandini, Vince’s Market community ambassador.
