Ingredients

  • 1 kg green beans
  • 1-2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 large garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1.5-2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tbsp lemon zest
  • salt to taste
  • freshly ground black pepper to taste

Method

  1. Trim the ends of the Green beans.
  2. In a pot, add water and salt and bring it to boil.
  3. In the boiling water, add the green beans to blanch them until bright green in color and tender crisp, roughly 2 minutes.
  4. Drain and shock in a bowl of ice water to stop from cooking.
  5. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the oil and the butter. Add the garlic and red pepper flakes and sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  6. Add the beans and continue to sauté until coated in the butter and heated through, about 5 minutes.
  7. Add lemon zest and season with salt and pepper.
