We’ve reached our halfway mark in supporting the Southlake campaign

When Vince’s first announced Southlake Foundation as the recipient of our Community Product Initiative, we were just taking the first steps on the road to recovery. It was the middle of winter, COVID-19 lockdown measures were strict, and vaccinations had just begun.

Six months later, the weather has not only improved, but mass vaccinations have drastically lowered the infection rate, while raising our spirits. And although there is now an overall feeling of hope and positive expectation, the past 16 months have also taught us that caring for our mental health has never been more vital. The cumulative stress, grief, and anxiety – not to mention social isolation – arising from the pandemic have increased pressure on the existing facilities, programs, and initiatives that can help.

“We’re deeply grateful to Vince’s Market for recognizing the importance of mental health care in our communities,” said Aga Dojczewska, Manager, Adult Inpatient Mental Health Unit. “We encourage donors to visit their stores and help raise even more funds for Southlake.”

With support from the community, Southlake is hoping to raise the remaining $2.5 million needed to expand their Adult Mental Health Unit and help build 12 private rooms to serve 400 more patients each year. Southlake is committed to welcoming their first patient in December 2022 and is on track to meet that goal.

As of July 1st, Vince’s, with the support of customers and vendors, has arrived at the halfway mark of our year-long campaign, reaching $15,153. We believe that by December 31st, we’ll have achieved the largest donation yet since launching this Initiative in 2018 – and we look forward to announcing our 2021 total.

To support the Community Product Initiative, we invite customers to view our online flyer or visit vincesmarket.ca/community-product, where you’ll find the current featured items. Fifteen percent of sales of the designated Community Products – often staple grocery items – will support the Mental Health Program at Southlake Regional Health Centre.

We are announcing a new Community Product starting today: Maple Leaf Top Dogs. Who doesn’t enjoy a freshly-grilled hotdog for your next backyard barbecue? An additional featured product will be announced in the next flyer – or visit our website for updates.

Thank you for helping us support our partners at Southlake to improve patient care at this vital facility. It is reassuring to know there’s a safe space to heal should the need ever arise.

Take care.

Neil
