Our Shopping Bags are Bio Based Certified and 100% Biodegradable
Our shopping bags are bio based certified and made from plant starch instead of plastic. But what does that mean exactly? They are made from 70% sustainable and renewable plant starch. And the bio-hybrid resin that composes each bag is 100% biodegradable in approximately 15 months. The bags are non-toxic and don’t leech any harmful chemicals when frozen or heated either, not to mention being FDA approved! And they have a sweet smell similar to maple syrup which give them that extra je ne sais quoi!
Our Bio Based Convenience Bags Extend the Freshness of Our Produce
Taking it one step farther, we’ve also invested in bio based convenience bags for use in our produce departments. Independent results show these bags extend the fresh shelf life of produce items by as much as 6 days. That’s 66% longer than the standard polyethylene bags used in most grocery stores. The plant based starch breathes better, allowing the excess moisture that promotes decay to escape, keeping your produce fresher, longer.
