A Brief History of Vince's Market

1929

Vince’s established in Toronto by Art and Bob Vince.

The Vince brothers would visit the Ontario Food Terminal with their produce bus, which they would load up and then drive to certain districts in the city for customers to shop.

Since 1986, the business has grown on the strong foundation of offering the very best fresh produce in the area. Vince’s prides itself on it’s extensive and high quality fresh food departments. The reason Vince’s can provide customers with such an exceptional experience when it comes to fresh foods is the way that we select and source our products. Carmen Trimarchi, Partner of Vince’s Market, still attends the Ontario Food Terminal four to five days a week, starting his day at 5am, so he can look, feel and taste the produce he is buying. Carmen has been purchasing product for over 40 years at the Ontario Food Terminal. His experience and the friendships and connections he has made ensures Vince’s receives the very best of what is available. Being successful has taken a lot of hard work, dedication and commitment. These practices are carried on to our other buyers to ensure we are following the example that has been set before us.

Vince’s is currently owned and operated by Carmen and his son, Giancarlo, as well as their experienced management team and continue to serve our communities in a manner that stays true to the Vince name. Giancarlo is the current President of Vince’s Market and currently serving as the Chair of the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers.

Vince’s is an award-winning chain, having received a number of national and regional awards. Our company has been named as of Canada’s Best Managed Companies, won numerous Business of the Year awards by the local Chambers of Commerce, as well as being recognized as being one of the top Independent Grocers in the country by the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers. Most recently, in 2020, our Tottenham location was awarded the Gold award as the #1 Small Surface Independent Grocer in South/Central Ontario. The recognition that Vince’s appreciates the most and strives to achieve year after year is in the local community newspaper and their Readers Choice Awards. A particular note is that Vince’s in Sharon and Newmarket is proud to have been named for “Best Produce” for 23 years straight!
